(Day 2) Momentary Respite

I never do take off my wedding ring
- not even in the shower, not to sleep -
it lives with me through every daily task
and unmomentous wandering,
so each demeaning job I turn my hand to
is somehow touched with gold.

It could be, I suppose, a post-it note
with words like honour and fidelity,
but honestly? I mostly like the fact
that it is never cold, a warm reminder
and a momentary respite in the din.
